The first song "fishing boat singing in the evening" is a traditional zither solo. There are two sources of the song. For many years, it has been thought that Lou Shuhua developed it based on the ancient song "return" in the 1930s; In recent years, it has been proposed that the song is adapted by Jin zhuonan according to Shandong traditional Zheng songs "double skin", "three rings covering the sun" and "running water excites stone". The first half of Lou Shuhua's widely circulated version is the same as Jin zhuonan's version, and the second half is unique to Lou Shuhua's version. The title of the song is taken from the good name in the preface to Tengyu Pavilion by Wang Bo, a poet of the Tang Dynasty: "fishing boats sing late and ring the coast of poor Peng Li." The whole piece of music is very poetic and picturesque. The melody is smooth, slow first and then fast, loose first and then tight, and the mood is stacked layer by layer. It vividly depicts the beautiful scenery of lakes and mountains under the setting sun, the competitive return of fishing boats and the harmonious singing of fishermen. It is not only one of the representative pieces of Zheng music, but also transplanted into the solo of Western instruments such as violin, piano and flute.
The second song "out of the water lotus" is a Hakka zheng song from Chaozhou, Guangdong. Someone wrote an explanation for the song and said, "cover it with red lotus water to symbolize the beginning of music, symbolizing the beauty and tenderness of the base." With its melodious and beautiful melody and the special charm of "heavy six Tunes", the song is pure and clear, and reposes people's praise for the noble sentiment of Lotus "out of sludge but not dyed, clean ripples but not demons".
